The award for Teacher of the Year at Department of Computer Science was given to Niels van Berkel. 

In the students' feedback, it says among other things:

“Niels is always very well-prepared for the lectures and can quickly adapt to our needs; what we as students want to learn, or if there is a topic we struggle with. Additionally, he is very helpful and understanding, even though we often ask some silly questions. He takes the time to ensure that we fully understand the course material and can apply it in practice.”

Furthermore, students mention that Niels van Berkel is a master at assisting with finding materials, solving technical problems, and the challenging art of creating concise PowerPoint slides. Combined with his attention to students' mental well-being and academic development—even when he is not assigned to the current semester—makes him truly unique.

The runner-ups for the award were Morten Schou and Anders Schlichtkrull - Congratulations.

The award for Supervisor of the Year at Department of Computer Science was given to Tianyi Li. 

In the students' feedback, it says:

“I know we’re not supposed to choose projects based on which supervisor proposed them, but Tianyi is such a pleasure to work with that it’s hard not to.”

Additionally, it is noted that Tianyi Li has a knack for teaching students to build projects in a meaningful sequence, allowing them to exceed expectations. She provides quick feedback and takes pride in the projects she supervises, making it a pleasant experience. This encourages students to choose challenging project topics if they know Tianyi Li will be supervising them. 

The runner-ups for the award were Jeanette Falk and Martin Lindrup - Congratulations.

The awards for Teacher and Supervisor of the Year were presented by student Jakob Topholt Jensen, vice-chairperson of the study board, at a social gathering for all students at the Department of Computer Science in Aalborg.

Congratulations to Tianyi and Niels - a well-deserved recognition of your contributions to AAU and our students!
